Reverend Gary Davis

Reverend Gary Davis (1896 – 1972)

The incredible Reverend Gary Davis … was one of the leading Blues and Ragtime guitar players. As well as being an incredible performer, he also influenced generation after generation of Black and White guitar students.  Blind Boy Fuller, Brownie McGee, David Bromberg,  Ry Cooder, and (Stefan Grossman) are but a few of the Rev. Gary Davis students that are recording and performing today.  His records have been copied by singers as far apart as Bob Dylan, Ralph McTell, Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Peter Paul and Mary … He was a giant amongst giants.
